The Hardest Button To Button

Michel Gondry shows his directing prowress once again! Filmed over three days in Harlem and Riverside Park near Grant’s Tomb, the video also features 32 identical Ludwig drum kits, 32 amplifiers and 16 microphone stands. According to MTV.com, “the amps were rented, but the drum kits had to be purchased.
(The band donated them to a music school after the shoot, fearing they’d end up on eBay if they got back into circulation.)”

Black Math

Directed by Anthony Garth, this video is a live performance shoot at the Masonic Temple gig on April 16. From FREEP news: -
“Viewers will likely float in and out, but expect the largest crowd for the premiere of Anthony Garth’s “Black Math” (8:18 p.m.), the new White Stripes video filmed at the Masonic Temple in April. What makes this different from the usual live performance video, Garth says, is that he bled all the color out of the film except the reds, in keeping with the red-and-white color scheme that has become the band’s visual trademark.”

Seven Nation Army

The directing team of Alex and Martin (who did Air’s “Radio #1″) no doubt brings on a hypnotizing, psychedelic vibe to the video for “Seven Nation Army” — the first single taken off Jack and Meg’s fourth album “Elephant.”
And according to NME, the video “borrows from aspects of classic ’60s movie ‘Jason and the Argonauts’ where special effects pioneer Ray Harryhausen brought an army of skeletons to life.”
Some trivia:
- Apparently, someone counted 222 triangles that popped up in the video.
- There’s a scene where a flame appeared on top of Jack’s head. If you look up in the bible in Acts Chapter 2 Verse 3, there’s something about “tongues of fire appeared over the heads of the disciples when they were visited by the Holy Spirit.”
- There’s a scence where Jack holds up his hand and points in the video. According to a Michigan dweller, that is how people from
Michigan describe what part of the state they are from.

Dead Leaves And The Dirty Ground

Stunning new video directed by Michel Gondry who did “Fell In Love With A Girl.” Shot in London in the second week of June (June 10), 2002. Do note that this is a superb video, shot with details.
“We had such a great time working with Michel Gondry again on the Dead Leaves video but Jack had it much easier than I did during the shoot. All of his scenes were alone or with me. One funny and slightly dangerous moment was when I was steamrolled by the bunch of partygoers who were trying to bust into our house. In one take, I was knocked to the ground, pop was dumped all over me, and I landed on the camera.” - Meg White

Fell In Love With A Girl

Gondry shot the Stripes performing the video’s physical stunts on the streets of London in exaggeratedly heavy makeup (to make
sure their black eyes and red lips showed up once the film was pixelated). Gondry also shot the pair against a special effects blue screen, then picked the highly contrasting images that he thought could be rendered best in Lego. - MTV.com
“One day he (Gondry) came to a restaurant and he had Jack’s head in Lego.” — Meg White.
Video is available on CD2 single of “Fell In Love With A Girl” but a lower res version real video version of the video is available for download here.

Hotel Yorba

The single was recorded in one of the rooms in Hotel Yorba but the video was not. Apparently, Jack and Meg got kicked out (”It’s
a long story” said Meg) and banned for life.
“We tried to film a video there (Hotel Yorba) and got kicked out. We are sort of banned for life. We looked a little too suspicious
and they didn’t trust us.” — Jack White.
Video is directed by Anthony Garth.

We’re Going To Be Friends

An NME exclusive. This unreleased video was shot on leftover tape at the end of the filming for the “Hotel Yorba” video. Jack strums guitar while Meg “rests.” Don’t miss the funny part right at the end!
“Meg was really asleep. And across the street, there was a bunch of Mexican kids on BMX bikes laughing at us the whole time we were filming.” — Jack White
