How to install Hacker theme on Windows 7 and 8
Similar to Iron Man’s Jarvis AI theme, we have another theme presented by the same developers (DeviantArt), the Hacker theme. If you ever had a penchant for being a ‘bad ass’ hacker, then you will need a theme that suits that form of attraction now won’t you.
The thousands of movies that you see related to espionage missions show hackers bypassing security, engaging firewalls and disabling electronic locks. These hackers have one thing in common. The interface on their computer is more or less similar to the theme covered in this article, the Hacker theme.
This tutorial provides instructions for installing this theme on Windows 7 and Windows 8 operating systems.
Required programs in order to run the Hacker Theme
To get the Hacker theme up and running on your operating system, there are a few programs that you will have to download and install prior to downloading and installing the hacker theme. The list of programs are listed below:
- Rainmeter application (download here). The download link supports both Windows 7 and Windows 8 operating systems.
- Hacker Skin from Deviant Art (download here). The download link supports both Windows 7 and Windows 8 operating systems.
- Rocket Dock application (download here). The download link supports both Windows 7 and Windows 8 operating systems.
- A Hacker desktop wallpaper (see the embedded image towards the end of this tutorial).
If you happen to have the Jarvis AI theme downloaded and installed, that means that you must have downloaded the Rainmeter program (otherwise the theme would not run) so you will not be required to download and install it again. Rainmeter is the theme framework on which multiple skins can run; it provides an execution environment to the skins and a framework to artists who design the skins.
After downloading and installing the Rainmeter program, you should download Rocket Dock (link provided above) and install it in order to inch closer to the completion of the tutorial. In order to change the skin, you can visit the settings from the Dock and make the necessary changes.
Now, comes the part where you have to download the Hacker theme (link provided above). Download the above files and extract it. Once you are done with the extraction process, go to folder and click on the Rainmeter Skin file and wait for a few seconds. Once Rainmeter has configured this skin, it will enable the theme.
From here on, you will need the hacker desktop background. Download the wallpaper embedded below (zoom and then save the image) and apply it to be your default background. Now, you can drag the widget according to your needs and can apply some more customizations in order to make it stand out.
Hope you folks find this Hacker theme tutorial useful. Keep in mind that the tutorial is only targeted for users using the Windows 7 and Windows 8 operating system.
